We will be a-tenting a good part of our journey.

OUR JOURNEY MAP

This Land Was Made For You And Me

Ross (hialoakapua) & Hanne (soundscapes), road trip August/September 2007
From teahouse to teahouse in an Audi tt

Creating Order out of Chaos

“The Road goes ever on and on
down from the door where it began.

Now far ahead the Road has gone,
and I must follow, if I can,

pursuing it with eager feet,
until it joins some larger way
where many paths and errands meet.

And whither then? I cannot say.”

“The wide world is all about you;
you can fence yourselves in,
but you cannot forever fence it out.”

J.R.R. Tolkien

This road trip is a quest for voices and faces of America…especially of the other America that lives off the beaten path. People who have changed their lives to live by choice. People who know that all power comes from within, not from the corporate world or Bush-America. People who are having fun because they do what they want to do. People who want to share their story.
Coming from Denmark and being with an American man I am very interested in cultural meetings and differences. I live them every day. I am also interested in telling Denmark & the rest of the world that America has many faces and voices. Because there is an official voice – that of the superpower - that is very loud out there, you know.
We will be looking for the hidden messages along the road you have to look careful to see - the patterns beneath the everyday and obvious.
Ross and I will follow the tea trail on this road trip. We will visit as many teahouses along the road as we can, and good Flickr friends have already helped us a lot finding some of wonderful new and old tea houses that are surfacing throughout the US.
We will create our own teahouses as we journey these 5k miles. Ross will do tea ceremonies, sometimes also using a talking stick circle, and we invite you to join us. We will publish the times and places on Flickr as we go along in Ross’ silver Audi tt with our small tent and camping gear. We will introduce you to exotic flower teas as well as aged Pu-eh teas from China.
I will bring my tape recorder and my notebook to capture the road trip in sound and words, and Ross will bring his camera, his beloved moleskin sketchbook and his watercolors.

We are very open to ideas, thoughts, your experiences, feelings, sponsors, places near our main selected path – blessings – and of course joining us for “talk story” and sharing some good tea.
